Normani is an accomplished and well-known singer, being an entertainment and fashion inspiration to many.
In this article, we will look into Normani’s background, her fashion style in consideration of her petite figure, and her style overall.
In case you didn’t know!
Normani Kordei Hamilton was born on May 31st, 1996. She is an American singer and dancer, we all know and love for being ever so iconic and talented.
For some background, she auditioned as a solo artist for the popular American TV show The X Factor back in 2012. This would be where she’d be put into the iconic girl group “Fifth Harmony”.
During her time as a part of the group, she was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2017.
Her first solo song, “Love Lies'', was released in 2018. This song was a duet with Khalid. A truly great success for her first individual song because it reached the top ten in the USA and even went platinum 5 times by RIAA.
Normal would go on to release more music over the years following Fifth Harmony’s hiatus.
Normani: Dressing as a Petite Woman
Normani’s style is very bold and trendy. Her carpet looks are dazzling and classic; she often combines modern and vintage fashion concepts
Necklines that accentuate the bust. Low cuts and bustier necklines are her go-to’s.
She also tends to wear statement high heels. It really isn't a Normani look, a pair of heels.
Her shoes are often color-coordinated or simply match the aesthetic of the overall outfit perfectly.
Dresses that have slits that begin at the left thigh are most common throughout some of her best and most iconic outfits to date. By accentuating the legs, or merely showing them off, she gives off the illusion of being a bit taller than she really is.
Petite women can direct attention to their legs in this manner to create the illusion of greater height. This visually balances the woman out and assuming this was Normani’s intention she's done so exceptionally.
Stunning as Ever
Fitted long skirts and dresses draw the eye downward and create the illusion of a taller, and longer presence.
Long slits beginning at the upper thigh; making the model appear taller. The way she poses in this outfit is not only suited for the dress but also her presence overall.
She is a powerful and successful individual, thus, she exudes confidence and power through her image.
Her September 2019 timeless J’Aton Couture dress that she wore for Rhianna’s Clara Lionel Foundation annual Diamond ball is a perfect example of this. It is absolutely stunning, and by combining more vintage silhouette and fabric with a more rique twist she pulled this look off masterfully.
The leg slit makes the dress sexier rather than wedding dress-esque. It balances her outfit out and makes her presence known. Paired with some white Gianvito Rossi sandals, white gold Bulgari jewels, and a vintage upturned ponytail, this look is unmatched.
The incorporation of bustier necklines and undergarments as outerwear has become increasingly popular in the last few decades.
There are numerous designers and their undergarment pieces being showcased on runways to this date. These garments such as corsets, bustier tops, lingerie, and even tap pants (french underwear) are timeless and non-restricted to a person’s size.
Normani can often be seen wearing corsets and bustier lines. In this outfit, we see her in a black bustier corset bodice, thigh-high boots, and a large yellow tiger print robe to pull it all together.
Tiger and Leopard prints will always be popular prints. Notably, these prints can be small, thin, and detailed which looks great on petite women. The larger the pattern the smaller the individual wearing the pattern may appear to be.
Overall, Normani has had numerous impressive outfits from trendy to timeless, all whilst remaining flattering to her proportions and image.
